PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
